“When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.” –Colossians 3:4 NASB
The Hidden Kingdom
In the days coming up to my Mission trip to Moscow and Poland, I was wondering what would be the best way to document the trip. Usually what comes to mind are all the picturesque places and monuments that can be paraded through short posts on my Facebook wall or some other format of social media. Yet, again and again I came to the conviction that all those things are fleeting and vain. The very purpose of my trip, along with the rest of the group, is to participate in the advancement of the Kingdom of God. We are advancing the Hidden Kingdom.
Why is any city on the face of this earth important? Is it because of new technologies and advancements in science and medicine? Is it the leaders, the stars, the philanthropists, and activists? As much as all those things make up a city, the real value is in each living soul, more than that, the souls who know and serve the true King and owner of all things, Jesus Christ. Rome isn’t important because of its colosseum, it’s important because God is doing his work there.
Therefore, the next series of posts will have this one lens through which I’ll be observing the world around me: what is God doing here, how is the Gospel advancing? It’s not so much about our efforts, or the cool things, as much as it is about the supernatural workings that are hidden to the unbelieving. But to those who believe, we get a glimpse into the eternal kingdom. Furthermore, we’re encouraged by seeing Christ, our life, dwelling in the hearts of other undeserving people like us.
